Happy New Year!
Happy New Year’s Eve to all! It’s a slow afternoon in my office at Rulnick Realty in Destin Florida. I can feel the “lull” before New Year’s! Everyone is itching to celebrate and leave work a bit early. You can see the build-up of cars on Highway 98 and tell that family and tourists are in town for fun, relaxing and festivities. I will have a quiet evening at home with my husband and also celebrate our 11th anniversary tonight at midnight! (That’s right – we were married on the Destin beach in Crystal Beach 11 years ago on New Year’s eve at the stroke of midnight. “Three, Two, One, I now pronounce you ‘husband and wife!'”)
Overall though, it’s been a fairly busy Christmas season in my office. I’ve had more showings on my listings, offers and new listings coming up then in many past years. I mean, who usually looks at house a couple of days before Christmas or on New Year’s Eve? (In fact, I should be receiving an offer today on one of my listings.) Certainly, there are always a few showings this time of year, and those buyers are pretty serious. But this year is different, there is far more activity. I think that’s a sign that January will be a strong month for real estate sales on the Emerald Coast of Florida.
As for New Year’s Day? I’m taking the the day off.
